More Information
This special camp program is designed to be a nice relaxing excursion, enjoying cruising up the coast of California with the ultimate destination being Santa Cruz.
Schedule
Once everyone has arrived and we have loaded all of our gear into the van, we will be Santa Cruz bound.
In the van, we will have opportunity to build and bond together talking, singing songs, and playing games together.
Our main priority for this trip will be to just enjoy California!
There are various options which the campers may choose.
We may enjoy various beaches.
We may hike and explore some in Big Sur, and hike and geocache some, relaxed though, in other beautiful natural areas as well.
We may visit the redwoods.
We may visit Gilroy, the Garlic Capital.
We may visit Castroville, the Artichoke Capital.
We may visit the Martinellis Sparkling Cider Factory.
We may visit the bizarre and unusual Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz.
We may play night-time miniature golf at Neptune’s Net.
We may ride some rides at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.
We may watch some movies in our tents at night.
We may play ping pong, foosball, board games, cards, etc. at our camp site.
We may play soccer, football, Frisbee, etc.
We may just relax at our camp site.
These are just some of the options; the campers, though, will be empowered with some choice as we decide our exact activities together.
We also may do some outdoor night activities, and it can definitely get cool there in the evenings.
Meals
Healthy, conscious snacks are regularly available.
In the evening, we may roast natural marshmallows from Chicago Soy Dairy or make smores at the campfire.
We will make some enjoyable, but simple, breakfasts at our camp site each morning.
We will make some enjoyable lunches at our camp site, and we may make some lunches and pack them to take with us on excursions.
Most dinners we will make together at the camp site as well.
Our conscious, nutritious, enjoyable meals will mostly be made on our campfire at our campsite.
Fun
We may do some singing around the campfire at night (and certainly when we are traveling in the van), and any camper who plays guitar, harmonica, etc. Is welcome to bring his/her instrument. If, though, it is not a pocket-sized instrument, then let us know in advance.
The stars may be quite brilliant at night, and campers are welcome to bring portable telescopes if they have. We will have a camp telescope to share. We can also just do some looking up and star gazing.
We may play some night-time glow-in-the-dark Frisbee.
We may tell some stories in our tents or around the campfire - positive, uplifting, inspirational stories - not ghost stories! When we tell stories around the campfire or laying in our tents at night, we do not believe in telling stories that are designed to scare and create insecurity. Camp Exploration has always been focused on nothing but the most positive of values. We are especially focused on helping campers build their self-esteem, their positive relations with others, and their understanding of their important role in the world. Being in the midst of such beautiful, awe-inspiring nature, we will indeed be able to get into some positive, powerful discussions.
Together, we will enjoy California with Calfornia Cruzin’!
